Academy Consultants is an organisation providing integrated sports management services to clientele throughout Central and Southeast Europe. It also provides a link between these and international organisations involved in sports and media. From a regional base in Zagreb - Croatia company establishes close business relationships with sports associations, clubs and individuals in the region covering well established 'markets' such as Austria, Czech Republic and Hungary; developing markets such as Slovenia, Croatia and Slovakia and potential markets of the future such as Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia & Montenegro and Macedonia. Sports marketing services are offered to a wide range of companies in the region. Football is the most obvious subject of interest as far as professional sport is concerned. Whole of the region's football development is suffering from an ever increasing imbalance between national leagues and the rich leagues in western European countries. Memories of Austria and Hungary as the leading footballing nations are long lost, whilst those of Serbia & Montenegro and Czechoslovakia are fading away. The individual successes such as that of Croatia in the World Cup '98 are more and more sporadic, as for example they did not qualify for the European championship two years later. There are a number of other sports throughout the region that feature prominently on a global scale - such as basketball, ice-hockey, skiing and tennis. More and more they are in service of providing talent at low cost for clubs and competitions abroad, rather than assisting development of sport infrastructure and popularity in their own countries. The international business interests should not ignore this part of Europe, neither as development, nor as commercially exploitable region of the future.
